I'll file that under Successful!

If you follow me on Twitter, y'all probably know that last night was our Her Campus launch party! Our website launched on Tuesday so we had a big "welcoming" party filled with great food & even better giveaways for people who came to celebrate with us! Since I'm President of Publicity & Marketing my nerves were all kinds of messed up alllll day prior to the party. I was nervous if people would show up, if it would go over well, if the space would work, along with a thousand other thoughts! Luckily, everything went SO well. I was pretty happy with the turn out (and secretly happy that the stress of it was over with!)

Fall Essentials + Reveal

Since it is finally starting to feel like fall (with the exception today where it was cold this a.m. and warm by p.m) I thought I would tell y'all what my fall essentials are!

My Patagonia Pullover
This is my go-to pullover. I have a few of them in different
colors and styles. They are so easy to throw on (especially
when heading to my 8a.m.) and look put together!

Scarves (or is it scarfs?)
Scarves add so much to an outfit! My favorites
are from Anthropologie & Target

Wraps & Cardigans

Wraps and Cardigans are such great transitional
items and can be worn in so many different ways.
These are my fall staples!

Boots, Boots, Boots

boots by ehn410 featuring heel boots
Boots are great, no matter if you're wearing bean boots in the rain or over the knee boots for a night
out! I have a an obsession with boots and
have far too many.

Candles are great any time of year, but
especially great during fall. The smells are
just amazing! I recently got Hazelnut Cream &
Pecan Pie scented candles...yum!

In other news.....
-I received my monogrammed market tote that I won from Sarah's giveaway! I LOVE it!!! I can't wait to use it.

-Also, My Campus branch of Her Campus magazine launched TODAY!! Along with being the President of Publicity and Marketing, I am the "how-to" girl and will have a feature every week! I would love it if you would check it out!

My Kinda Weekend!

I went home this past weekend to babysit my sister. My parents were going to Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed) for the weekend, so they needed my help! I went home a day early on Thursday and had a great dinner with my mom and youngest sister, Greysen, and did a little shopping! It is always so great to be home.

Upon them leaving on Friday afternoon, I started my weekend with my sister, Logan, and my two favorite boys Dingo & Hunter! I was so glad to spend the weekend with all 3 of them. On Friday night the three of us went out to dinner. For some reason we kept getting the "you're young parents" look....clearly my 11 year old sister isn't my child!!!! We had a great dinner, did a little shopping at Swoozie's where I got a new Lilly tumbler!

We then introduced Hunter to the BEST dessert place in town, Maxie B's. They have the best desserts from cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, and frozen yogurt! I have talked about it here! We each got a piece of cake and it was of course to die for!

Maxie B's

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing. It was nasty rainy weather so we watched movies and played with precious Dingo!
we got him a letter jacket at Target...he hated it & wouldn't move!

my two favorite boys!

he loves to play outside!

I headed back to school late Sunday evening to prepare for a very busy week! Bring on the week ahead!

I hope everyone had the best weekend!

Happy Birthday to my sweet dad!

It is my wonderful dad's birthday today! I helped him celebrate his birthday last weekend since I couldn't be there this weekend! He is so special to me and I am so thankful to have him as my dad every day. We have such a great bond and I can always count on him to cheer me up when in need!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

way back when.... I think I was 2. My dad rocking wayfarers & a frat tank HA!

I had to end with this one...it's too funny!

I love you dad! So much!

Happy Fall Y'all!

Today is the first official day of one of my favorite seasons...fall! So many great things are associated with fall. Every year I look forward to pumpkin spice lattes, beautifully colored leaves, fires, sweaters + boots, the chilly mornings, football, scarves, pumpkin ANYTHING, and everything else that fall brings! My college town is located right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway and I find myself driving those winding roads surrounded by colorful leaves many times during the fall, just for the sake of its beauty. There is truly nothing more pretty than my town in the fall. Unfortunately, fall doesn't last to long around those parts- it likes to skip right on to winter...so I enjoy every last second of fall!

my mom, sister and me enjoying fall on the parkway!

Me,Hunter, Ashley (my IRL friend), and Clayton enjoying football season!
Overlooking Grandfather mountain- the leaves are SO beautiful from this view in fall!

What are your favorite things about fall?

Don't Judge...

*This isn't one of my typical posts, but for some reason this has been weighing on my heart lately and I thought I would share*

We are taught growing up to be nice to others and definitely not judge a book by its cover. Well, now that we are older that is easier said than done. It is so easy to sit back and judge others...although it's not right. I am certainly guilty of being quick to judge others by their appearance and what people say about them before getting to know them for myself. Sometimes that just seems like it's easier than to go out of your way to form your own opinions.

But, I have had a change of heart lately. (a little late I guess, huh?) I guess it comes with growing older and maturing but I have realized.... Everyone has a story. Everyone has something going on in their life that you have absolutely NO idea about. Everyone is different- and that is great! It's what makes the world go round. You don't have to like everyone, but you should give them that chance. Don't be so quick to judge. The person you are judging could have something hard going on in their life and really need a friend. You just never know.

I have decided I am going to make a conscious effort to befriend people that may not fit with my group of friends, but that I could have something in common with. I don't want to look back and be the 'bitch' or the 'catty' girl. I want to look back knowing I tried my best and made friends and acquaintances, and less enemies.

So that is my deep, inspirational post for the day! The end! What do you think?

A Simple Weekend

This weekend I came home to my dad's house to celebrate his birthday a little early! I surprised him late Thursday evening and he was so happy! On Fridays my parent's have half-days and are home by 12p.m. So I woke up and ran to Target to see (with wishful thinking) if there was any Missoni left. I arrive at Target only to remember they are moving to a new Super Target and half of their store was cleaned out! I am *hoping* upon their opening in a week they will reveal the Missoni line a little late & I can score some goods! I also went to Initial Impressions, a local monogramming store and got a few decals!

I got the circle monogram for my Macbook pro!

I got this one for my car!

I didn't leave Target empty handed though! Thanks to Shasta for blogging about these great ballet flats, I just HAD to get some while in Target! They remind me a lot of TB revas & their Eddie flats. I have worn them twice and they seem pretty comfy so far!

Last night it was finally feeling like fall. After dinner we went outside in our backyard and drank wine and caught up. The later it got the cooler it got too. By our pool we have a deck so we used our fire pit to keep warm! We even roasted marshmallows- it was the perfect start to the fall!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend so far!!

It's about time for bullet points....
*We have our Her Campus team together and we are launching the site on September 27 with our launch party occurring on the 28th! Lots of work for my PR team to do! I am so excited to be a huge part of this great opportunity!

*I tried to get online this morning and shop for Missoni for Target and Target's website has been down for HOURS. Really? They have every source of media covering Missoni for Target yet they somehow weren't prepared for all these Fashionistas to storm the stores and website. Of course once I got on all of my favorite items were bye-bye. I may have to call my mom to go shopping for me! Did anyone get anything today?

*I am going home this weekend to see my sweet dad for his birthday! I can't wait to see my family...and maybe go to Target then?! ;-)

*As you can see, I broke down and got leopard print flats when I was home with my mom this past weekend. Y'all I never thought that would happen, but we went into Monkee's and I really liked these- and they were comfy!

That's it for now...Happy Tuesday!

Never Forget...

It is hard to believe it has been 10 years. It seems so long ago, yet then again, like it was just last year that it devastated our country. I remember I was 11 years old when it happened. I was in 6th grade. I was on our morning break and in the bathroom. I remember everyone (read: the students) at first thought it was Charlotte that this happened to. I recall my friends bawling because they thought it was the building their dads worked in. Little did we know that it was more devastating than that. All day at school was spent watching the coverage and having an assembly on what had happened. I went home that day and continued to watch it in the safety of my home with my family. Looking back, I don't know if I fully understood what had happened that day. But, the clips now are so surreal. I hope America, or anywhere else never has to experience something like that again. I saw this video on Sweet Melissa's blog and I had to share it as well. It made me cry & gave me chills.

Never Forget...

Darn you Google/Blogger...

Is it just me or are other people having problems with GFC & Blogger in general? I kept thinking some of my blog friends were missing, so I go to their blog and BAM it says I don't follow them?

I know I didn't UNFOLLOW them. What is going on? Is this happening to anyone else?
I'm so annoyed...

Fall is in the air...

I haven't always loved fall...this is more of a recent love affair. I have never really wanted to 'give up' summer...but this year I am coming to terms with summer ending. I am looking forward to fall clothes (and boots and bags), the fall weather, the smell of fall, football, and my favorite...pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin muffins!

Yesterday really began to feel like fall here, temperature wise. It was in the low 60s. But it was horrible weather outside. It rained ALL DAY. And not just rained...poured. Luckily we didn't have classes so I ended up relaxing, watching Labor Day Marathons and caught up on school work!
The creek on our campus ended up looking like this (actual photo of the creek)... Our mall parking lot was absolutely flooded-the water came up to peoples SUV doors..it was madness. I am so glad I decided to stay in! The marathons on TV were excellent...RHOC, Criminal Minds, Friends...I had a hard time deciding!

Today was more rain...and class. I donned my duck boots, rain jacket, and umbrella all to still look like a wet dog upon entering class. What I did love was the hint of fall. I can start to see leaves turning which makes me so happy!

Things I look forward to in fall & this month....

-Our first home football game this coming weekend...and all football games after that!

-finalizing the Her Campus team at our school. We had so much interest & we're going through the applications tonight!

-pumpkin spice lattes & pumpkin muffins... I had my first ones today! YUM

-Being able to put away my summer clothes & bring in the fall ones. Boy, do I love sweaters & boots :-)

-The leaves turning...going to school in the mountains is glorious this time of year. Everything is so beautiful. I can't wait to take some photos during peak season! (I also love to step on the "crunchy" leaves!)

What are you looking forward to this fall??

Falling for Fall Fashion: Missoni for Target

I love it when designers do a collection for Target... I am especially loving the preview for Missoni for Target. It arrives in stores September 13. My college town doesn't have a Target (boooo) so I will be having my mom scoop some up for me! You can preview the whole line here! They have their look book set up with only pieces from the collection- so it is a little overwhelming.  Just imagine it without all 'that' going on! Here are my favorite items!

I will definitely be buying some of this stuff for next semester classes!

All of these shoes would spice up any outfit! The skirt & cardigan would be the perfect fall pieces!

I love the laptop sleeve and the scarfs!

I love all of these pieces. Each of these would fit perfectly in my wardrobe or everyday lifestyle! What will you be purchasing from the Missoni line?

Happy Anniversary, what a GREAT year!!

One year ago today Hunter & I began dating. We began "talking" and going on dates in late June, early July and it became official on this day in 2010. I have gained so many great memories throughout the time we have been together and I am forever grateful that I met him.

This past weekend he came up to school to visit me. I was so excited I couldn't hardly stand it! On Friday night we got all dressed up & went to a nice dinner....of course it started POURING rain. Oh well, it was still fun! Before leaving we decided to exchange presents. Oh my gosh. This is what I received...
A new David Yurman necklace! I almost cried I was so happy. I was not expecting that at all...It is beautiful. I haven't taken it off since! He can now be close to my heart 24/7! Anyways, after dinner we rented a few movies for the weekend and just relaxed. It was so nice just to be in each others presence.  On Saturday night we went to dinner and came back and drank some wine courtesy of Hunter....he is just too sweet! Today, we ate brunch and spent our last few hours together before he had to go. :(

Here's to another year...and reminiscing of the past year....!
 Our first picture together!
