Friday Fancies: Holiday Best

holiday best

I love the holidays, not only because I get to spend time with the ones I love, but it's also a great excuse to dress up! I look forward to being festive in reds, greens, and sequins throughout December! Between holiday parties and family gatherings there is no shortage of opportunities to wear my holiday best!

What is your go-to holiday outfit?

Stocking Stuffer Ideas: For the Ladies

When it comes to Christmas, my family always goes a little crazy with stocking stuffers. My mom has always loved the stockings almost more than giving presents. I have to give her credit... she always puts GREAT items in my stocking! One year my favorite Michael Kors watch was hidden in my stocking. If you are looking for any fun stocking stuffer ideas for the ladies in your life here are some great suggestions!

stocking stuffer ideas-girls

1. Pandora Bead(s): Every year I get a Pandora bead for Christmas. I love collecting them and knowing that I get one for every holiday and special occassion.

2. Candy: Who doesn't love to see their favorite candy fall out of their stocking?! I know I do. Plus, it's an excuse to eat candy in the wee hours of the morning!

3. Nail Polish: I am a nail polish hoarder, for lack of better words. Getting more on Christmas would be my heaven! I recently tried Butter London and can't get enough of it.

4. Dogeared Necklace: I love that each dogeared necklace has a special meaning and special message. Having someone pick out one that meant a lot to them would mean a lot to me!

5. EOS lipbalm: I go through this stuff like crazy! Any extras would be much appreciated.

6. Stud Earrings: These Kate Spade and Loren Hope earrings would do the trick!

7. Magazines: Magazines are something I love but don't buy often (Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why!), so it would be nice to have a subscription to my favorite ones!

8. Keychain: Nothing like adding a little bling to your keys! I have seen quite a few tassle keychains that I have my eye on!

9. Hand Moisturizer: In the cold winter months my hands get so dry. I am a big fan of L'Occtaine and the Sally Hansen hand moisturizers!

10. Hair Ties: If you (or your lady) is anything like me, I am always losing my hair ties. I love the Emi Jay (Goody's also has great ones) ties. I can put my hair up mid-day without a crease line!

11. Giftcards: Self explanatory. Why wouldn't you want some extra $$$ to your favorite places??

12. iPhone case: I seem to change my iPhone case as much as I change my clothes! You can never have too many cute ones!

13. Stationery: I am always making to-do lists and sending out thank you notes, so it is always nice to have a variety to choose from!

14. Carry All Clutch: I have quite a few of these that I use for a) makeup cases b) pencil holder c) use to put my items in when going out! It's a perfect and compact gift!

What items do you like to see in your stocking?

Weekend Recap: Philadelphia Edition

Thursday morning, bright and early, Brian and I headed North to the Philadelphia/New Jersey area! It was our first big road trip together and it couldn't have gone better! And I crossed two states off of my list, so that made it even more successful! We arrived in New Jersey to his cousins house around dinner time on Thursday, so we just relaxed and had dinner! We were both worn out from the nine hour trip, that's for sure!

Friday morning we ventured into downtown Philadelphia to do some sight-seeing and play around the city! Besides the fact that we got lost (a few times, no thanks to Siri) and were both aching from walking miles upon miles we had a great time!!

We had a delicious lunch at Continental in mid-town. For the most part I have found that if a restaurant has great atmosphere then the food isn't always the best. However, Continental proved me wrong! The atmosphere was amazing- from the art hanging in the middle of the room to the swinging chairs we got to sit in! And the food is another story.... I honestly can't even put into words how delicious their lobster mac and cheese is. I was thoroughly impressed!

I could have spent days sight-seeing in downtown Philly! Here are just a few photos I captured of the area on day one. After we returned from downtown I had the pleasure of meeting Brian's extended family. They made me feel so welcome and at ease! They were all so nice and I hope I get to see them again soon!

Saturday we traveled back to downtown Philly to get in a little more fun and sight-seeing! We ate at Soho Pizza for lunch and it was very good! The atmosphere definitely fit the Old City area! We got to visit all of the historic sites on the opposite end such as the Liberty Bell, the Constitution Center, and Ben Franklin's grave! I love a city with beauty and a great history!

Saturday night after returning from Philly we had his cousin's annual Christmas party! It was definitely a fun time to be had! I got to meet more family members and hang out around the ones I had already met! Throw in some wine, some singing, and a little Wii bowling and we had quite a fun night to say the least!
It was a such fun-filled weekend and one that I will remember for quite some time! Here's to me and Brian for surviving our first road trip together... and here's to many more!

Some Serious Sparkle

If there is something that always catches my eye (besides the usual things...) it's sequins. I love finding a good sequin piece! I really lucked up last week when I was perusing Vestique's website and stumbled upon this sequin peplum gem!!! I knew that their Pep in your step top would be perfect for the holiday season. I think that is the fastest I have ever ordered anything in my life. .05 seconds later it was mine! I can't wait to see all of the possibilities with that seriously sparkly top!

I love this look for a dinner date and a night out on the town!
What do you think?

Tuckernuck Suede Booties

Booties have certainly become one of my favorite fall trends this year. Initially, I was not the biggest fan of booties (on myself) until I finally decided to try on a pair....and I fell. hard. Booties come in so many different styles (talk about so many overwhelming choices!). I have quite a few pair of cognac colored booties, but I was thrilled when Tuckernuck contacted me and offered me a pair of cream colored suede ankle booties to review! I knew immediately they would be the perfect addition to my closet. And, wow, was I right!!

These booties can go with just about any outfit! I still prefer my booties with jeans and leggings--maybe one day I will venture into wearing them with dresses and skirts... but until then, here's a few ways I wore the booties!

Do you rock the bootie look? How would you style these Tuckernuck booties?

Nails: Holiday Edition

Nail polish, we all know by now, plays a very important role in my life. Sounds ridiculous, yet we all know it's true! I look forward to the fall and winter months because of the great selection of darker nail polishes. Holiday season is no different. Give me oranges for Halloween, pink for Valentine's day, and shades of red and green for Christmas! My nails will always revolve around the holiday seasons, and this year is no different.

While I look forward to doting sequin tops and dresses, I also look forward to a little bling on my nails! These are some of my favorite "go to" colors during this holiday season.

Shades of Red:
1. Butter LONDON Chancer
2. OPI Skyfall 007 collection: Skyfall
3. Essie Berry Naughty
4. Essie Wrapped in Rubies

Shades of Glitter:
1. OPI Skyfall 007 collection: The Living Daylights
2. Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday
3. OPI Spiderman Collection: Spotted the Lizard

Shades of Gold:
1. OPI Golden Eye
2. Butter LONDON West End Wonderland
3. Essie Good as Gold

Shades of Green:
1. Butter LONDON Jack the Lad
2. Essie Stylenomics
3. OPI Jack is the New Black
4. Orly Lucky Duck

What is your favorite nail polish for the holiday season?

Weekend Recap: Bre's Birthday

This weekend in Charlotte was a blast! Not only was it my bestie Bre's birthday we were celebrating, Brian and I were celebrating him being done with law school exams! On Friday we hung out at Bre and Jeremy's house and had so much fun just relaxing and drinking with friends!

On Saturday Brian and I woke up and had lunch at the 7th St. Public Market. Neither one of us had been there (it's within walking distance) so it was perfect for a nice day! We grabbed lunch at Pure Pizza while enjoying a beer and each others company!

Saturday night Me, Bre, and Leslie got a delicious dinner at Cowfish. It was well worth the two hour wait we had to endure! Afterwards we met up with our boys uptown for a little fun and dancing! It was a great time!

On Sunday, Brian and I finally got around to decorating the Christmas tree! We did it right.... complete with hot cocoa, Christmas cookies and Christmas music! My little sister joined us for a while and it was fun! Now the apartment really feels more Christmas-y!!

I hope you all had a fun and fabulous weekend! I have a short three day work week this week, Brian and I are going on a road trip to Philidelphia!

Monday Mantra

Happy Monday, everyone! I saw this quote once and decided to make a simple print of it for myself. I think it is always important to have people in life who lift us up and inspire us rather than those who drag us down. This quote seems to fit perfectly in my life right now, because I am slowly realizing that certain people don't inspire me to be better- but instead do just the opposite. Always keep this in mind. Aspire to be better than you know how to be.

Giveaway: Personalized From Me to You

I am always on the look out for a great clutch that is original, yet tasteful. I always think I've found "the one" until I decide it doesn't quite fit the bill for one reason or another. When Personalized From Me To You contacted me to do a review on their monogrammed clutches I knew it would become a new favorite!

Upon receiving it I immediately loved how simple it was. Nothing was overdone. I love having my monogram on it because clearly no one will want to take it when I'm out ;-) It holds just enough for a night out. I took it on my trip to Vegas and it was perfect for a night at the casino & going out on the town!

Personalized From Me To You is offering my readers a $50 gift card to spend any way you would like! Been eyeing that monogram necklace? Go for it! Need a gift for a friend? Pick out something special for them! This giveaway is perfect for the holiday season (and for all the monogram addicts, like me!)

This giveaway will run until December 16. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck ladies (and gents!)

New Home, New To-Do List!

I will be the first to admit that I have let blogging slip through the cracks over the past little bit! But don't fret, I have an awesome giveaway and a few reviews coming up to make up for my lack of blogging! Since I am finally fully moved into my apartment I decided that I wanted to make a fun to-do list of sorts to go along with a new chapter of my life! I got the idea from a fellow App alum blogger and friend, Melody and thought it was such a good idea!

new home new to do list
1. Go to the gym three times a week Now that the fitness center at my apartment is within walking distance I have no excuse to not go at least three times a week. I've gone two times this week already, so I know I can do it!

2. Complete two Pinterest projects a month With all of the thousands of pins and likes I have on pinterest, it is a shame I haven't attempted and completed more projects!

3. Learn to cook five different meals Let's face it... I'm not Julia Childs, or Paula Deen, or even Rachel Ray. But, now that I'm living on my own (and no longer on a college budget) I owe it to myself and my body to learn to cook. What other choice do I have?!? I plan to learn five "basic" meals that I can cook for myself.

4. Read at least one book a month I realize one book may not seem like much, but between working a full time job, working out, and other activities, I think this is a realistic goal. If I read more, then I will feel better about myself! Go me!

5. Create and keep a set schedule It is so easy to really do whatever you want, when you want, when living on your own. If I make a set schedule of when I wake up, when I go to the gym, when I eat, shower, etc. then I will definitely feel more productive (and not be so lazy!)

6. Make my new apartment feel like home Since I have only been here four nights (newbie) I am still adjusting to my apartment. And to be honest I'm a little (read: a lot) afraid of being out on my own. Even the slightest noise still makes me jump. I want to be comfortable in my home and make it feel like home, and not just another apartment in the mix. So far, all is well in the decorating department!

7. Learn to wake up to only one alarm This one will certainly take some time. I am "that person" who sets eight alarms just to wake up in the mornings. Not only is it disruptive to others (oh, hey Brian!!) but it does make me late in the mornings as well! I will really have to try my best on this one because I know it will be a challenge for me!

8. Each week make time for myself This may seem crazy since I am living on my own, so basically every second is for myself.... But, each week I want to have some me time. Some "down" time where I just relax. I don't blog, I don't play on social media, or anything else. Whether it's taking a bath, giving myself a mani/pedi or watching my favorite movie, I want to still have that time for me!

I think having a "fun" to do list will help me settle in and ease into this new transition in life! It will definitely make it more interesting. Anything else I should add to the list?

Monday Mantra

Happy Monday, everyone!
I am finally back (and with internet!) after a crazy few days of moving!
I can't wait to let you all take a peek into my apartment, I am so thrilled!
I thought this quote was fitting since I am really starting a new chapter in my life. I'm living on my own, have a full time job, and am still learning how to maneuver in the "real" world. I must continue to move forward and not worry about things that once were. Although, we all know that's easier said than done!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! xoxo
