Shades of Spring at Petal

This past weekend I went to one of my favorite boutiques in Charlotte, Petal, to shop around and hang out with the fabulous ladies there! When I walked in I was immediately diagnosed with spring fever. I'm talking pastels, corals and mints, and prints galore! Because it was a beautiful day in the 60s I decided to take full advantage of my spring fever and add some pretty clothes to my wardrobe!

Here's what is "in" for spring at Petal!

Pastels + Prints
I love a fun little printed top or dress! Add in pastel colors and it's guaranteed that it will be coming home with me! Pastels are so pretty and feminine and look good on most everyone! Now, I just need my summer tan to go with these ;)

Mint
Me and mint just....go together! Every piece of mint clothing or accessory I own I love. I am so drawn to that color! I even told Chelsey that I needed to stop buying items in this color! However, my closet will be perfectly stocked for spring!!

Corals
Oh coral... the shades and prints you are in are simply perfect! I've never met a coral that I didn't fancy.
It is just a very happy and cheery hue!

Shades of Blue and Green
If there are two colors that I have an abundance of it is definitely blue and green. All shades. All the time.
The items Petal had in those shades were perfect....I fell, hard for them all!

So we all know I couldn't leave empty-handed after being in a store full of feminine, pretty things! Here are some of the items I left with! Now, if only spring weather would make it's way to me so I could show them off!

Tops: Call the Charlotte Petal to see if they have anymore in stock! 704-817-8871

What I Wore: Cobalt Blue + Gold + Black

Cobalt blue, or cerulean, as some call it has always been a favorite color of mine! There is just something so cheery about this bold blue that I can't stay away from! Whether it's a bathing suit or matchstick skinnies I am always drawn to this color! It's one of those colors that I have to stop myself from buying.

When I spotted this cobalt sweater at J.Crew last year, I knew right away that it would be coming home with me! I have worn and styled this sweater in a number of different ways (it has certainly gotten it's fair share of wear!)

I wore this outfit not too long ago to a Bobcats basketball game! We have 1/2 season tickets to these games, so it's fun to go and show a little team spirit by wearing their colors! It is a simple outfit, but I loved the touches of gold and black. It definitely made the swear stand out a bit more!

Top: J.Crew (similar) // Necklace: gift from Bre
Denim: Old Navy Rock Star Black Jeans (favorites!!!) // Bag: Michael Kors Large Hamilton Tote
Jewelry: Bauble Bar, Swell Caroline, La Mer for Target Wanderlust Watch (similar), David Yurman
Shoes: Sam Edelman Felicia Flats (similar)

Saturday Shopping

Online shopping is easy. Too easy. Much easier than having to go to a store (and look decent in case you see someone you know), try on clothes, and make it through the crowds of children and mommies. I can sit in the comfort of my own home, in my PJs, and peruse websites as I please. So, that's what I do. With spring coming up (it can get here annny time now) I have had my eye on some pretty items!

This necklace screams "spring" with those pastel colors! This would add some spring color to any outfit!

J.Crew
J.Crew's spring and summer collections never disappoint, and this year's is no exception. The spring line is filled with pastels, florals, and bright colors! These floral shorts are too cute and would go well with a denim top and the ever-so-trusty Jack Rogers.

H&M USA
I recently got this bright pink H&M blazer (!!!!) I finally found one that wasn't too "business-y" or too tight. This one is juuust right! I know this will look so cute thrown over a sundress as spring approaches!

Petal Boutique
I always have a hard time finding a cute springy bag that will go with a lot (but that won't break the bank). When I saw this one on Petal's boutique I liked it right away! It's simple, it has a chain strap, and can also be a clutch! Plus, it's mint green....what's not to love?!
Target
Target Marguerite Wedge Espadrilles

Paging all Kate Middlton fans... We've all seen Duchess Kate in her precious espadrilles, now we can be one step closer to being her (HA!) I don't think I have to tell anyone that Target has been killing it lately with their items, but these are proof. They're simply amazing!

What items have you been loving for spring?

Friday Fancies: Academy Award Ready

I would be lying if I said that watching the Red Carpet coverage wasn't my favorite part of all award shows. I am absolutely mesmerized during all of the coverage; nothing can ever break my concentration on all of the beauties walking down the Red Carpet. I always find myself live tweeting, commentating everything, and of course being 110% envious of the fabulous designers the celebs are wearing. (And I might be guilty of saying "Why can't I be ____?" at least ten times during the coverage).

I love the dresses.
I love the accessories.
I love the celebrities.
I love the commentation.
I love the interviews.

But really, what's not to love?

If I were to ever go to the Oscar's or any award show for that matter I would wear something along the lines of this. It is simple, yet sophisticated. I love the color on the dress and the detailing at the top. The brassy gold accessories are a nice touch, but aren't overdone. But lets be real, I will most likely never be attending an awards show. *sigh* But a girl can dream, right??

Fur + Leather

While I am anxiously waiting for spring weather so I can bring out my pastels, dresses, and wedges I am going to miss certain aspects of winter.  Like, the clothes. I am a huge fan of my fur vest and leather leggings. I was so picky when searching for both of these items. I lucked up and found my fur vest at Dillards last year (they had an entire huge selection of them). I feel like I didn't get nearly enough wear out of it this season. And then there's my beloved leather leggings. I searched and searched to find a pair that I liked and finally did. I find an excuse to wear these out for any occasion! Put them both together and I have an outfit that I love (and seemed to search for forever!)

Fur Vest: Dillards (old) // Top: Boutique // Leather Leggings: Vestique
Booties: Target (old) // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters
Jewelry:  Michael Kors, David Yurman, Stella & Dot c/o, Chloe + Isabel c/o, Bauble Bar

Hi, I'm Four Eyes

Hi I'm Emily and I'm a part of the "four eyes" club!
Yes, that's right I wear glasses!

At this point in time I don't have to permanently wear glasses or contacts, but my eye sight is quite wacky! In one eye I am near-sighted (can see well in short distances) and in the other eye I am far-sighted (able to see items well at further distances). Combine these two together and it makes for a difficult time seeing and focusing!

I first started having problems when I was a freshmen in high school. I would leave school mid-day due to horrible headaches. After a few months of unbearable headaches I finally scheduled an eye appointment. I was told about my eye sight and that I needed to wear glasses when driving, reading, watching TV, and while on my computer. All things that caused my eyes to strain. I left the doctor that day with glasses...and as a very self-conscious fifteen year old.

Back then I was so self-conscious about wearing my glasses, so I really didn't wear them as I should. Now, I've learned my lesson (after a few bad headaches after forgetting to wear them!) and actually love wearing my glasses now.

GlassesUSA.com contacted me a few weeks ago to do a review on their prescription glasses. I had recently gotten my updated prescription, but had yet to buy glasses that I liked, so I decided to try them out. I had been weary before about internet eye companies, but they were an absolute pleasure to work with!

These are the glasses that I chose. They came with a certified prescription card, a case & a cleaning cloth. The quality is great! I love the vintage, yet trendy feel of the glasses! The only thing I wish is that I had ordered the anti-reflection lenses!

I wear my glasses now when working, blogging, reading, watching TV, and playing on my computer! It's amazing how much better my eyes feel when they're not strained all day. Not to mention, that I can see everything much better!

YAY for being able to read all the tiny print in my Glamour mag!

The #armparty essentials

If there is one thing I like to do, it is to accessorize. I tend to lean towards classic clothing (with the occasional trendy pieces mixed in) and add fun accessories. One of my favorite easy and fun ways that I like to accessorize is with bracelets. Whether you call it the "stack," the #armparty, or your #armcandy it is definitely a way to accessorize that anyone can pull off!

Below are the items that I deemed "essential" for creating a great #armparty!
#armparty

The watch: While some may not be a big fan of watches, I certainly am. Up until a few years ago I didn't wear watches, but now I can't go without wearing one! It allows me to tell time and add a little fun to my arm! I also love that watches come in a wide variety of price points and styles. Whether you are a Michael Kors gal or Anne Klein is more your budget, there are choices for everyone!

The link bracelet: I absolutely love the look of link bracelets. They seem to add a little bit of class (and sass) to every stack! I have one that is Lauren by Ralph Lauren that I wear religiously!

The bangle: Oh, the bangle...where to begin? There are so many options in bangles that it is unreal! From the Kate Spade Bow Bangle to the printed J.Crew  bangles- there are an abundance of choices! I am always finding cute bangles (at great prices!) My latest finds have been from Target. The best part?? They seem to fit my teeny tiny wrists without falling off! Bangles are the perfect way to add color and pattern to your stack.

The cuff bracelet: These to me are "every day" type bracelets. They are pretty simple, yet can be paired with other bracelets to make the perfect stack! I love my David Yurman cuff bracelets and they rarely leave my wrist. Lately I have been seeing simple cuffs (like the gold ones above) that are just as cute and simple. Bauble Bar always has some cute ones!

The dainty bracelet: Some of my favorite bracelets are light, dainty bracelets that can be worn in multiples to make a cute (and light) stack. Target has a great selection of dainty tie bracelets that I love to wear in the summer, especially when it is so warm and I may be sweating a bit!! My Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster is another one of my favorites. It is a little trendy, yet still dainty enough to wear with most other bracelets!

How do you stack your #armparty?
Where are your favorite bracelets from?

Monday Mantra

I am a firm believer in thinking you can never have too much happy. If something in your life is making you unhappy it is time to reevaluate why it is still a part of your life! I find that I am constantly editing and reevaluating certain aspects of my life in order to be the most happy that I can be! It's your life, so live it...happily!

I hope you all have a fabulous Monday!

Friday Fancies: Red + Pink

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day!
Even though V-Day has come and gone, I still love pink + red (and any occasion to wear it!)

pink red

If you haven't heard yet, I am a huge fan of lace. Tops, dresses, shorts... you name it, I probably have it. There is just something so classy and classic about a good lace piece! This outfit is just so "me." With the added statement necklace and nude heels it would be perfect for a dinner date.

The contrasting red outfit features peplum... don't even get me started. I'm obsessed. It looks good in every way, shape, and form! Oh, and my newest lust item?? Leather shorts. I am on a mission to find some (price friendly) ones to rock! I love the mix of femininity with the leather of this outfit. I would definitely wear this outfit for a night out on the town.

So which do you choose?
Pretty in Pink
or
Bold in Red

My favorite Pink + Red things.

Happy Valentine's Day, ladies and gents!
Whether you're single or taken today is a day to celebrate love, all things pink and red, and over indulge in those little Valentine's Day candies. What girl doesn't love all of those things? Even though I see this as a made up holiday, it's still fun to enjoy it to it's full potential!

Today I am going to make sure I...
a) tell my sweet boy how much I love and appreciate him
b) give my sweet parents/sisters their Valentine's treat
c) eat far too many candy hearts and colored candies
d) obsess over all things pink and red

What is your plan for Valentine's Day?

Have a great V-Day!

Bow Back Top Outfit + A (2 winner) Giveaway!

Do you ever get that "happy" feeling when you walk into a boutique?? That giddy, excited feeling of knowing that you're surrounded by beautiful and girly items? That's pretty much the feeling I got the first time I walked into Petal Boutique in Charlotte. It was filled with pastel tops, printed dresses, and accessories galore. All things "me."

So naturally, when I saw this bow back top pop up on their facebook page (it comes in a ton of colors!) I fell head over heels immediately. After making a trip to Petal one day while in Charlotte my spirits were instantly lifted once this top became mine (thanks Petal!)

A girly color + a bow + an open back= yes, please.
