Cruise Recap: Turks & Caicos

Our third day we were in port in Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos. We had a planned excursion for this day…

Horseback riding & swimming on the beach!

Riding horses on the beach is on both mine and my mom’s bucket lists, so we were both extremely excited to be able to do this together! If you ever have an opportunity to do this, do it– it was more fun than I ever could have imagined! From the entrance of our port we traveled about 25 minutes through Turks & Caicos to get to our destination. We took a bus taxi with our group. We didn’t have time to get a drink or anything before this….we get in the bus and there is NO air. For the first ten minutes I had to convince myself I wasn’t going to pass out. It was that hot. But, taking that bus allowed us to see the town and hear about all kinds of facts about the island. It really made all of us so thankful for the things we have.
the town
The town was so interesting. Everything was so run down, either by the many hurricanes that hit the island in the last few years or that was all they could afford. They had plenty of bars/nightclubs though…blue club, yellow bar- it was funny! They also have to get their water from gas stations and pump it into huge barrels, they don’t have indoor plumbing. It made me really thankful to be able to grab water when I want it!

Horseback riding

all animals in T&C run free..like this wild horse!

Swimming with Horses
