Do any of you feel like you need a vacation after your vacation? Well, after my recent whirlwind of a trip to Charleston for the 3rd Annual Southern Blog Society Conference and then Folly Beach for a blogger getaway, I think I need a vacation!
This trip to Charleston was definitely one for the books! Last year’s conference was held in Atlanta (you can read about it here), but this year we headed to Charleston for a weekend of fun, networking, and learning. Me and my three roommates (Ashley, Brittney & Jenny) stayed at The Mills House for the weekend. The Mills House is filled with quintessential Charleston style and charm. Our stay there couldn’t have been better! Everything from the decor, customer service, and location to the conference was perfect.
(p.s. how adorable is our room?!? dying for that headboard and mirror)
One of the first stops once we all arrived in Charleston was Republic, for ice cream! It was so hot that we couldn’t resist. Their Orangesicle ice cream was delicious and reminded me of those popsicles I would eat all the time when I was younger! After our ice cream pit stop we headed to do a little shopping at Escapada and II Brunettes! We all got some really cute pieces to wear for the weekends festivities (I cannot wait to style them on the blog soon!)
Soon after shopping we headed back to The Mills House to freshen up before heading to the kickoff cocktail party hosted by Swoozie’s (one of my favorite places for gifts!) This is the outfit I wore for the party & for dinner afterwards at Indacho. It was so hot, humid and sticky I didn’t even bother attempting blog photos, so I’ll have to recreate this look for the blog!
The cocktail party was great. It was so nice meeting bloggers, finally meeting the lovely Swoozie’s ladies, and getting to catch up with old blogger friends. After the party a group of us headed to Indacho, which my friend Annie had suggested. I loved the atmosphere, the food, and of course, the company. It’s always so fun getting to catch up with friends over dinner. We all split a few pizzas–I highly recommend the Coppa and Squash pizzas…very different, but good!
Saturday started off with a breakfast at Belmond Charleston Place followed by conference stuff all day. We got to hear from great brands and influencers, like Blair from The Fox and She, People Style Watch magazine, and ESPN W. I took away so much information and insight to make my blog better. There were also a ton of brands there to network with. I was introduced to new brands that were a great fit for Life With Emily and I can’t wait to introduce you to them in the coming months!
After a day full of learning and networking, we headed to Leon’s for a late lunch and of course rose on tap. I ended up getting the fried chicken and hushpuppies…amazing (and so worth all of those calories!)
Next up was a blogger dinner at Edmund’s Oast held by Cathy and Jessica, the Southern Blog Society founders. It consisted of the state reps and the bloggers who have been SBS members from the beginning! We also got to network with the Lilly Pulitzer, Dermologica, and Vera Bradley teams! The food was kick ass (sorry, that’s just how good it was) and the company was even better. It’s so awesome to see other bloggers blossom over the years!
Sunday it was time to leave and head to Folly Beach for #BloggersDoFolly, but not before we brunched at Cannon Green. They had recently begun serving a latin style brunch and let me just say….it was probably the best brunch I have had in a long time. We got a ton of small plates to share, indulged in a few mimosas, and I had the french toast as my meal (I am a sucker for french toast!)
Y'all went to all of my favorite spots! The ricotta at Edmund's Oast is to die for. Hope someone ordered the pickled shrimp toast and you got to try that, too!
This looks like such a fun trip! I am visiting Charleston for my first time this weekend and I am trying to round up a to-do/must see list! Thank you for sharing! Morgan
