Pool & Beach Bag Essentials

Did you know yesterday was the first official day of summer? Even though it has felt like summer for about a month or so, it’s officially summer! Now it’s time to start planning for our summer vacations. I have a few trips coming up to Ohio, our beach house & Virginia where I will be spending time by the pool or ocean. To kick off the start of summer I have partnered with Supergoop! to share what’s in my Mar Y Sol striped tote! Since many of you have upcoming trips, I thought it would be fun to share what my beach bag essentials are so that you (hopefully!) won’t forget anything when planning your trip.

To start, this is the bag I’ve been carrying to the beach and pool recently. It’s a classic straw bag with an open top, so it’s easy to fit your necessities in. It’s pretty spacious- it can hold my beach hat, a towel, and everything else that’s below with ample space left! If you’ve been thinking about getting this bag- I highly recommend doing so! 

SUNGLASSES:

I can’t go to the beach or the pool (or anywhere really) without my sunglasses! I typically keep a few pair of sunglasses in my beach/pool bag. I’ve been wearing these Karen Walker sunglasses a lot recently. They are so chic and the oversized frame protects my eyes really well. I always have a pair of polarized sunglasses, like these classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers in my bag, too! 

SUNSCREEN:

Perhaps the most important item in my bag is my sunscreen. I never go to the pool or the beach without it, even if I’m only going to be there for an hour. I will be the first to admit I went through a phase (in high school) where I wanted to be super tan and ended up forgoing my skin’s safety to do so! Even though I’m not proud of that, I now know the importance of sunscreen and wear it every time I go out into the sun. My favorite sunscreen is hands down Supergoop! I began using this brand in April and after a few uses I knew I would be a loyal customer for life! They have a really great sun and sunscreen information section on their site that really opens your eyes to the facts about sun and sunscreen.

Now anytime I go out in the sun I use the Supergoop! everyday sunscreen. It comes in four different sizes- perfect for throwing in your purse, beach bag, or having on hand in your beach house! My parent’s love the large bottle with the handle and pump at our beach house! If you prefer a spray mist bottle, it comes in that version as well. I learned the hard way a few years ago that I’m allergic to the aerosol cans when I broke out in a rash everywhere haha! Since I have such sensitive skin, I use the mineral sunscreen on my face. It’s SPF40 and really protects my skin from the sun and photo aging.
Another product I keep in my bag is chapstick. I’m that person who is constantly putting chapstick on… I can’t stop!! I really like their lip shield chapstick– it’s got a great minty flavor and is SPF 30. I also bring their lip balm in my bag which is MY FAV. It comes in acai and mint fusion flavors and I use this stuff like it’s going out of style haha! 

S’WELL WATER BOTTLE:

Staying hydrated while out in the warm weather is extremely important. I have a few different S’well water bottles and I carry them everywhere. I really like them because they keep your drink cold for up to 24 hours. It makes staying hydrated a little easier when you always have ice water on hand! Plus, the metallic water bottle is too cute!

SWIM COVERUP:

Nothing wrong with looking chic while you’re at the pool or beach, right? I always like to keep a coverup in my bag- and this one is just too cute for words! I love the embroidered detail on it. Bonus: it’s currently on sale here and here.

A few additional things I keep in my beach bag are sandals, like my Jack Rogers or Tory Burch flip flops, extra hair ties and bobby pins, a few snacks (I’m always snacky at the beach haha!), a beach hat, a good book, and a coozie.
