Fall Essentials 2016

Fall is well under way but the temperatures have been unseasonably warm here lately! This week alone has been in the upper 80s, which is just crazy!  Since the weather has been so warm, I’ve just now started to pull out my fall favorites. Luckily the highs this weekend are in the low 60s, so I’ll be able to wear some of them. Today I wanted to share my comprehensive list of fall essentials with you! These are all items I have in my closet and that I get use of during the cooler months. Below each item you’ll find items of varying price point, so there is something for everyone!

BARBOUR JACKET | After lusting over Barbour jackets for years I finally got one last year! While it is definitely an investment upfront, it is a jacket that pays for itself in one season. It kept me incredibly warm during snow storms and very dry in the rain (there’s a detachable hood). I love that this jacket is a classic and can last year after year.

DOWNTOWN FIELD JACKET | This jacket is perfect for that “in between” weather. I wear it a lot when the weather begins changing and even into fall with sweaters. It’s durable (I have had mine for four years) and a jacket that can go with everything. P.S. for size reference, it’s supposed to be a boxier/oversized fit and fits true to size.

FAUX FUR VEST | The faux fur vest is a trendier outer wear piece that I think is a must have! It can keep you warm and make any outfit a little more dressy! I’ve linked a ton of options before. Use the arrows to view them all & simply click the photo to shop!

DENIM VEST | This is a favorite year round, even into the fall! It’s a great layering piece that looks great with sweaters and tees. If you’re looking for the perfect layering piece this is it!

PUFFER VEST | I love a good puffer vest to layer with in the fall and winter. I love this version because it’s still light weight but does a good job of keeping you warm. It comes in quite a few fall colors, too!

CHAMBRAY SHIRT | This is another piece that can be worn year round, but is especially great for fall. A lot of times I will wear it unbuttoned with a striped shirt under it. It also looks really cute over dresses as well!

PLAID & GINGHAM BUTTON-UP SHIRTS | I probably have too many of these shirts, but they’re so easy to throw on in the fall months as the first layering piece. Sometimes I will wear them under sweaters, others I’ll throw on vests with them to complete the look. Lately I’ve been wearing them with the sleeves rolled and the front tucked into my jeans.

COZY SWEATERS | This is pretty self explanatory…who doesn’t like to be warm and cozy when it’s cold out?! I always love cowlick or turtleneck sweaters to keep me warm.

OVERSIZED CARDIGAN | Oversized cardigans have been everywhere this year and I am loving it! I’ve purchased a few and I always feel like I’m wearing a cozy blanket when I wear them!

STRIPED SHIRT | It’s no secret I love stripes around here. If you don’t have a striped shirt in your closet, you need to get one ASAP! Stripes are super flattering and pair so well with many of the other pieces listed above!

NEUTRAL HANDBAG | Find a good handbag that you can wear time after time and you’ll be good to go! I love my GiGi New York Saddle bag because it’s spacious enough to fit everyday essentials, has an outer back pocket (great for storing your phone) and it’s long strap can be worn on your shoulder or as a crossbody. I’m sharing a few others that are perfect for fall below.

COMFY SOCKS | Every great pair of boots needs a good pair of socks! These socks are my favorite- I always stock up on them when they’re on sale. They are thick enough to wear with boots and keep your feet warm.

EVERYDAY BOOTIE | In the fall I wear booties almost every single day. So it’s important to have a comfortable bootie that can take you everywhere you wanna go! This bootie comes in a few colors (both suede and leather) and is so comfortable. It fits true to size!

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS | I have two pair of over the knee boots and just ordered this pair and I love them more every time I put them on. They elongate your legs, are so comfortable, and really add to your overall look.

BLANKET SCARF | I don’t think the blanket scarf trend is going away anytime soon…and I’m ok with that! When it gets really cold I break out my blanket scarfs to stay extra warm.

SUNGLASSES | Sunglasses always come with me wherever I go, because let’s be honest, there is nothing worse than having to squint everywhere because you’ve forgotten your sunglasses! I just got these sunglasses in the mail and I’m obsessed with them. They’re a little smaller than their “iconic” ones so they can be worn with casual or dressy outfits.

FELT HAT | This is one of those things I sometimes forget about, but whenever I *do* remember to wear one I love it. I like wearing hats especially in the fall because it tames my static hair and is an added layer of warmth.
