A few weeks ago Nick and I hit the road to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for a fun-filled weekend! I’ve been to Hilton Head plenty of times before, but I was super excited because we had a packed weekend of activities with good friends. Today I’m going to share where we stayed, our itinerary, and favorite places that we visited while there! So let’s get to it, shall we…
WHERE WE STAYED
For this trip we stayed at the Sonesta Resort. I had never stayed here, but it’s safe to say I will definitely be back in the future! The rooms were spacious, the property was gorgeous and so clean, and the staff was very friendly. We grabbed breakfast every morning at Heyward’s, the hotel’s restaurant. Definitely get the almond french toast, it was incredible! Every morning we would take our coffee to go & relax in one of the hammocks and enjoy the gorgeous views!
WHAT WE DID
Like I said above, our weekend was filled with fun activities. Anytime we go on a trip I try to make sure we have enough time to explore everywhere and do fun activities, while also being able to relax a bit. This trip was the perfect mix of those things!
When Nick and I arrived on Thursday we went straight to the Sip & Stroll event at the Harbour Yacht Basin! This event kicked off the 32nd annual Wine & Food Festival weekend. We were able to shop at so many adorable locally owned stores while sipping new wines. The weather was absolutely beautiful for this event. I loved grabbing a glass of wine and sitting in the rocking chairs.
On Friday we woke up, ate breakfast & got ready for an adventurous afternoon at ZipLine Hilton Head! I had zip lined before, but it had been quite some time so I was excited to zipline along Broad Creek. Nick, on the other hand, is terrified of heights so he wasn’t nearly as excited as I was haha! It ended up being a great afternoon and Nick conquered his fears 😉
On Friday night we headed to the Harbor Town Clubhouse for the Grand Tasting Event. I will be completely honest and say I don’t know a ton about wines, but this event was a great way to learn more about the wines I like and discover some new ones. And of course, it was great to mingle with friends!
Saturday was the big event, the 32nd annual Wine & Food Festival at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. This was the biggest event of the weekend and definitely the most fun! The weather was gorgeous for walking around the Basin and sampling wines. There were 250+ wines from all over the world to sample, an amazing jazz band, and so many delicious food options! I really loved that each both was able to provide a lot of information about the wines. I discovered a few new favorites that we’ve since bought for our house! There was even a giant silent auction for different bottles of wine. There were seven of us who went together and we all had the best time together! Definitely made some fun, lasting memories!
WHERE WE ATE
The first night we were there we had dinner at Hudson’s on the Docks. The restaurant has been around since the 60s and is an island must! I loved that the menus look like newspapers. I suggest going around sunset because the views are gorgeous. The hurricane had destroyed their outdoor area, but it’s just been rebuilt and is so nice! Would be a great place to grab a drink & watch the sun set.
On Friday afternoon we grabbed lunch at Fish Camp after zip lining. This waterfront restaurant is relatively new, but has already made it’s mark on the island! Their lunch menu is amazing (as were the drinks) and the view was wonderful. It’s definitely one of the places to be at night, too. P.S. They’re pet friendly & have a lot of outdoor games, so it’s a great place for everyone!
On Friday night we grabbed dinner with friends at Poseidon. I absolutely loved this place- from the space to the food. The outdoor area is huge, the inside is vibrant, and the rooftop bar provided great views!
On Saturday night we ate at Coast, another favorite of mine. It’s known for it’s oceanfront location and delicious food. We ate in the Ocean Lounge and the views were incredible. The seafood platter was sooo good (none of us could stop talking about how good everything was) and the Crab Cakes were out of this world. I think I could eat them every single day!
Obviously, there are so many other great places and things to do on the island, but we had the best time being there for the Wine & Food Festival!
