Beauty Hits & Misses

If there’s one thing I love, it’s trying out new beauty and skincare products! One of the joys of my job is being able to try out the newest products by some of my favorite brands! Between getting PR packages and picking up items when I’m at Ulta or Sephora, there are bound to be a few products that aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Today I’m sharing recent beauty buys with you and letting you know if they were hits or misses!

PRODUCT: L’OREAL INFALLIABLE TOTAL COVER COLOR CORRECTING PALETTE
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: I have tried numerous color correcting products and they were all really expensive individually. This palette is under $20 and has all the shades for dark circles, redness, discoloration, and dullness all in one! It’s great when traveling to only bring this one palette. I really love the green one for neutralizing redness.PRODUCT: ORIGINS GINZING GEL MOISTURIZER & ORIGINS GINZING EYE CREAM
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: I am all about a gel moisturizer lately and I really like this one. I use it in the mornings and it makes my skin feel awake and glow! The eye cream is extremely hydrating and moisturizing. It also does a great job of relieving puffy eyes and dark circles. PRODUCT: FIRST AID BEAUTY SELF-TANNING MOISTURIZER
HIT OR MISS: Miss
WHY: I truly wanted to love this product because I love all of the FAB products I have tried… but I just couldn’t like this one. I wasn’t a fan of the smell, but even worse, it was extremely streaky. It’s a lotion based formula, so it would look like it was going on ok but the next morning I would wake up to streaky arms and legs! I have fair skin though, so that could be it.  PRODUCT: IT COSMETICS BYE BYE MAKEUP
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: This makeup removing cream is amazing! It basically “melts” off your makeup with warm water and leaves your skin feeling super soft afterwards! It doesn’t take a lot to remove makeup and there are times I don’t even need lotion afterwards.
PRODUCT: MAYBELLINE FIT ME POWDER
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: I totally love this powder! It’s really affordable (under $10) and does a great job of covering and lasting throughout the day. I’m sort of finicky when it comes to powder, but this one really made my skin look and feel flawless. PRODUCT: MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL MASCARA // E.L.F. LIQUID EYELINER // MAYBELLINE COLOSSAL BIG SHOT MASCARA
HIT OR MISS: all a hit (I have re-purchased all of these!)
WHY: Both of these mascaras do an amazing job of adding volume and length to my eyelashes. In particular, the Lash Sensational mascara really gives my lashes a full look. I picked up the E.L.F. eyeliner ($2) on a whim when I forgot mine on a trip and actually really like it. It goes on great and stays on (without smudging).
PRODUCT: L’OREAL VOLUMINOUS LASH PARADISE
HIT OR MISS: Miss
WHY: I think I’m in the minority here because it’s gotten great reviews online! I am really particular when it comes to mascara and this one just didn’t do well for me. It almost felt dried out. I also didn’t notice any extra volume in my lashes and I thought my lashes looked/felt more stubby when using this.PRODUCT: L’OREAL INFALLIABLE PRO-COLOR FOUNDATION
HIT OR MISS: Total hit! This is my second tube.
WHY: This foundation is so lightweight and stays on all day long. It’s great for every day wear, whether you’re running errands or heading on a date. I have a few “problem” spots and it gives great coverage for those areas.PRODUCT: FIRST AID BEAUTY CAFFEINE MATCHA WAKE UP WIPES
HIT OR MISS: Hit. love love love!
WHY: I brought these on my Europe trip and I was so glad I did! They not only remove makeup & dirt, but I also used them in the mornings as a way to “wake up” my skin! They contain green-tea matcha and make my skin feel amazing. PRODUCT: TOO FACED BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: I was looking for a full-coverage foundation that didn’t feel heavy and I’m so glad the Sephora sales associate suggested this. This goes on easily, blends well and does a great job at covering freckles, sun spots, and any breakouts! I will say, it has a yellow undertone, so make sure you get matched for this. It may or may not be right for your skin tone. PRODUCT: ST. MORIZ SELF-TANNING MOUSSE
HIT OR MISS: 100% hit!
WHY: I had been using the St. Tropez mousse and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. One of my best friends, Kate, suggested this, so I tried it and I love it! It’s half the price of the St. Tropez and I think it’s a more natural color. It goes on easily, doesn’t leave streaks, and it doesn’t stain sheets or clothing! I put mine on after I have exfoliated in the shower. I leave it on overnight to really sink in and then wash it off in the morning. PRODUCT: SMASHBOX PHOTO FINISH PRIMER WATER
HIT OR MISS: Hit
WHY: This is a two-in-one primer & setting spray, so it’s ideal when traveling! I have always liked Smashbox’s primers, so I was excited to try this. It’s really hydrating and great for hot days! There have been a few times I’ve brought this along on photoshoots just to cool my face off haha
