Recent Beauty Buys (+ Reviews!)

Sharing my recent beauty buys with y’all today! I’m also reviewing each and every item.

I’m a self-proclaimed beauty junkie. I get a thrill whenever I go into Sephora or Ulta and pick up a few things to try out. I’m constantly searching for the best of the best (and hoping it’s a good price point, too!) Over the past few months I have tried a lot of different beauty products, so today I wanted to share those with you and provide a review of each one!  I would love to hear your go-to beauty products in the comments!MARC JACOBS SHAMELESS FOUNDATION | Marc Jacobs Beauty just came out with a new foundation called Shameless. It’s a long wear medium-coverage foundation and it comes in over 30 shades. Their PR team reached out to me and sent me a few shades to try and I’ve been using it recently. For reference I was sent Fair-Y110 (yellow undertones), Y-130, and Y-210. I’m currently using Y110 since I’m not as tan as I usually am. The formula itself is super lightweight, which I appreciate and it blends really well. Because I have fair, uneven skin I typically prefer a more full-coverage foundation, but this one will be great for vacations or anytime I want a “no makeup-makeup” look! LAURA MERCIER TRANSLUCENT LOOSE SETTING POWDER | I had been using the NARS loose setting powder, but I couldn’t stand the smell (as weird as that sounds!) After so many people suggested trying the Laura Mercier, I gave the translucent loose setting powder a try and I really like it so far. I’ve been using it for about a month and I don’t have any complaints. It’s done a great job of setting my makeup and giving my face a flawless look and since I am in photos often I like that it doesn’t have any flash-back. URBAN DECAY VICE LIPSTICK | I have never been a big lipstick person, especially when it comes to bright colors. I tend to gravitate more towards blush and lighter colored lipsticks and I have finally found a few that I love. I’ve been using these lipsticks for a few weeks and the colors are gorgeous. They don’t dry out my lips and they last quite a while. The pigment is good in these lipsticks without being TOO pigmented. My favorites are Naked, Backtalk, and Gubby. I shared swatches of them below 🙂

KRISTEN ESS TEXTURIZING SPRAY | My friend Jess turned me on to this brand and I’m so thankful she did! I could never find a texture spray that I liked (and that didn’t smell terrible!) This one is affordable, you can grab it at Target, and it works wonders.I always use this to finish off my hair when I curl it, and anytime I want a more lived-in look with my ponytail.  I even use it on my clean, straight hair for a bit of texture and grip since I have such thin, fine hair.

SUPERGOOP UNSEEN SUNSCREEN | It’s no secret around here that I am a HUGE fan of Supergoop. I was first introduced to them three years ago at a conference and later had the opportunity to work together. Ever since then I have been a loyal Supergoop user and that’s the only sunscreen I will use now (this is my favorite sunscreen to use!). They recently came out with Unseen Sunscreen, so I knew I had to give it a try. I use it as a primer (because it grips to your makeup) and I use it as a daily SPF on my face. The ingredients are clean and their products truly work so well.

LAURA MERCIER CAVIAR STICK EYESHADOW | I love a good eyeshadow palette, but to be bluntly honest I’m not very good with applying eyeshadow…maybe one day I’ll get there haha! I had heard so many great things about the caviar stick, so I picked it up last month while I was at Sephora. It’s such a foolproof way to apply eyeshadow and the colors are gorgeous. I had a hard time narrowing down which one to try, but I bought “Moonlight” and it’s so beautiful. I usually apply it and then just blend with my fingertips. Super easy…can’t complain!

NYX THAT’S THE POINT LIQUID EYELINER | For a long time I was buying the Stila Stay All Day eyeliner. Abut a year ago I was out and ran to Ulta only to find out it was out of stock. I quickly grabbed this NYX eyeliner and I haven’t looked back ever since. It’s so affordable and I like it better than the Stila eyeliner. I had a friend use it on a trip and she couldn’t believe how amazing it was for the price.

MARC JACOBS VELVET NOIR VOLUME MASCARA | If there’s one makeup product that I love trying it’s mascara! I am a sucker for mascara and I like that it’s an easy product to try (you don’t really have to worry about breakouts, etc. like other makeups) This mascara is my favorite that I’ve used in a long time. It provides so much volume to my lashes, even with only one coat. I have been using this daily since I got it and I have received so many compliments on my lashes!

That’s it for today! I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know if you have any questions and leave your favorite beauty products in the comments. xx

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try the Kristen Ess products! They’re so great. And I use the setting powder after I apply my foundation/concealer to “set” it and give it a more matte look. I know people also use it as their last product to set all of their makeup, but I prefer how I do it! 🙂 Personal preference!

I’m excited to try the Marc Jacobs foundation and thanks for the tips on the NYX liquid eyeliner! I usually don’t like to spend a lot of money on eyeliners.
