Like most people, my phone is always within arms reach. As a blogger and content creator, I spend a lot of time on my phone. Whether I’m planning my instagram feed, checking emails, or editing photos on the go, I am always thankful my phone can help me do almost everything I need thanks to a handful of apps! I am always interested in the apps people use frequently, so today I wanted to share the apps I use most including the productivity apps I swear by and the ones that are just for fun! I would love to hear what your favorite or most used apps are in the comments below.
for social media
UNFOLD | This app is great for creating curated instagram stories. Unfold has a ton of templates that help to streamline and create cohesive instagram stories for your audience. The app allows you to create story templates (i.e. travel, beauty, etc.) so that each one can have a similar look. I use this to have a streamlined look for travel and sponsored posts.
PLANOLY | Planoly is one of my favorite apps when it comes to planning my instagram feed. At $7.99/month it helps me visualize and plan the photos on my feed before they go live. I can see the best times to post, what days do best and even schedule out instagram stories. Planoly also has a desktop version, so I can plan things right from my desktop and continue it on my phone. If you’re a blogger, they have a lot of great resources on their site as well.
VSCO | VSCO is the app I use when editing almost all of my photos. You can add a filter (they have so many that you can tweak), adjust the tones, and make any other changes right in their app. I love the amount of filters they have, although I only use a handful, and that it’s very user friendly.
TOUCH RETOUCH | I learned about this app a year or so ago when I was googling how to get rid of something in a photo. Sure, Facetune has the ability to remove something, but with Touch Retouch it’s SO quick and easy! I have been able to remove branches that look like they’re coming out of my head, cigarette butts that were on the sidewalk & even a coffee stain on my shirt #glamorous haha!
for productivity & more
EVERNOTE | I have used Evernote for quite some time, mainly for its ease of use! I have a MacBook, an iPhone and an iPad and I like that the app automatically syncs with all of my devices. I personally use it for to-do lists, taking notes, writing blog post ideas, and even grocery lists! You can have separate “notebooks” so everything is perfectly organized whether it’s personal or for business.
FOREST APP | This may be one of my favorite apps that I use daily! The Forest app allows you to be present and stay off of your phone. When I’m trying to get a task done, want to watch a show undistracted, or want to put a timer on finishing something I “plant a tree” in the Forest app to keep me off my phone. I like to try and beat the clock to get my tasks done! It has helped me SO much – I never want my tree to die (haha!) so I never exit out of the app when I’m working on something.
TINY DECISIONS | This app is kind of funny, but I find myself using it more than I thought I would! Anytime I can’t make a decision, whether it’s what book to read next or where to go for dinner, I pull out this app and let it make the decision for me.
GENIUS SCAN | Genius Scan is the best app for the digital age! For those of us who don’t always have access to a scanner or *gasp* a fax machine, this app is a lifesaver! All you have to do is open the app, take a photo of the document you need to share and you can instantly email it to the intended party. I use this for business and personal use!

for reading
KINDLE APP | Although I typically don’t read on my phone (I use my Kindle Paperwhite if I’m not reading a physical book) I love having the app on my phone in case I find myself in a situation where I have a few minutes to read! The Kindle app syncs to my Paperwhite and I’m able to pick right up where I left off in the book!
GOODREADS | Goodreads is my favorite way to keep up with the books I want to read, what I’m currently reading & the books I have read in the past! I have been using this app since 2012 and continue to really enjoy it. I’m able to get a lot of book recommendations from there and I really like the way I can track books on my “bookshelves.” You can follow me on Goodreads here!
BOOKLY | This is a new-to-me app, but I’m enjoying it so far. This is another way to track your reading goals. I like it because you can set a timer if you want to read for a certain amount of minutes, plus I’m a nerd and like to see how many pages I read each time! At the end of each book it gives you a breakdown of time read.
for fitness
OBÉ FITNESS | I have been using the obé app for over three months (well, minus the month when I had my knee injury!). I love the variety of classes and that they even offer express classes for when you want to get a workout in but you’re strapped for time. The instructors are so fun too!
Thanks for the tip on Touch Retouch! Just got that one. I also really love A Color Story for photo editing, and Canva for social media graphics.
I use the desktop version of Canva for that as well!
oooh this is such a great roundup of apps! I def just downloaded touch and retouch! I’ve been trying to fix a rogue hair and this is perf.

Yes – it will be perfect for your needs then! 🙂
I use quite a few of these apps too. I may try the tiny decision one, sounds like a fun one to have.

I always love seeing what apps people use most – I cannot wait to download Genius Scan! Where has it been my whole life?!
Tiny Decisions sounds interesting. I am gonna have to check it out. Great post.

I’m glad this was a helpful post for you, Candace! Enjoy those apps!! 🙂
i love touchnote to send postcards of photos of my girls to my folks who dont have social media. also calm for bedtime stories and a color story for photo effects.
Thank you for sharing these apps! I love the idea of the postcards one since some of my older family members don’t have social media!
Evernote is genuinely brilliant. I use it for all my projects – it means I never have to carry a laptop as it syncs across all my devices. I wish they hadn’t got rid of Evernote Food (remember that?). I’m researching my next book with it and it’s super easy to save references to it. I love Pocket for saving articles to read later. It’s a bit of a hack for reading articles behind a pay wall and you can then share the whole text to Evernote (you’re welcome). I love VSCO too and I also love Pinterest as an easy hack to sharing images across devices. (I save them to a ‘secret’ board. Never got into Canva, I might give it another go
I just got Unfold a couple weeks ago and love it! A couple of other favorites include ShopShop for my grocery shopping list and BigOven to help plan out meals for the week.
I love Touch Retouch & canva! I need to try the productivity apps so I can decrease the amount of time I pick up my cell phone throughout the day.

I am very impressed by the “Unfold” app – I use it daily for Insta stories! The “StoryLuxe” app is also very similar, too.
