Best of Beauty 2019

How is everyone’s 2020 so far?! After getting back from Aruba last weekend I have been focusing on getting back into a routine & planning out content for 2020! For today’s post I wanted to share my best of beauty post! Every year for the past four years I have rounded up my favorite beauty products that I have used and loved throughout the year! You can see 2015, 20162017 & 2018‘s posts! Some of these products have been featured for years (but with good reason!) and some of these are new-to-me as of this year! I hope you enjoy this post & I would love to hear what products you loved this year.

  1. SUNSCREEN FOR FACE – It’s so important to use a sunscreen on your face every single day. I really like this sunscreen. It goes on well (and layers well with my makeup) and still leaves my face feeling light.
  2. TONER – Last year I really slacked a tasing a toner, so I’m happy that I found this toner. It’s made for sensitive skin and I can really tell a difference when I use it regularly.
  3. MOISTURIZER – Moisturizers are some of my favorite products to try. I have been using these two regularly since the beginning of the year and my face thanks me. I use the Beautycounter moisturizer in the morning since it’s light & the Kiehl’s moisturizer at night for a thicker moisturizer.
  4. UNDER EYE CORRECTOR – This under eye corrector product is a game changer for hiding under eye circles after a sleepless night.
  5. FACE OILS – I have been using face oils for over two years now and they have worked wonders on my skin. I love the Beautycounter facial oils. There are three different kind to meet your skincare needs. I also tried (and loved!) the Kiehl’s overnight recovery concentrate oil and it provides a noticeable difference in fine lines.
  6. PRIMER – Smashbox is my favorite when it comes to primers. Every single one that I’ve tried has been great. I tried the Smashbox primerizer this year and really like it because while it locks in my makeup it also hydrates my skin.
  7. MAKEUP REMOVER – This makeup remover cleaning balm has been a favorite of mine for years because a) it’s so easy to remove makeup with and b) it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth afterwards!
  8. LIP MASK – My friend Shelby told me about this lip sleep mask and y’all it’s so good. It’s very moisturizing & I use it all the time, not only at night.
  9. FACIAL CLEANSER – I have been using this facial cleanser religiously for at least 3 or 4 years now because it’s that good! It removes all of my makeup in one use and it works well with my sensitive skin.
  10. FOUNDATION – I have not strayed from this L’Oreal Pro-Glo foundation since discovering it two years ago. Y’all it is the BEST and it’s a great price point. This foundation has great coverage and a little bit goes a long way.
  11. CONCEALER – I have not found another concealer that I like more than Tarte’s Shape Tape. The coverage is great for dark circles, pimples, and uneven tones.
  12. SETTING POWDER – Last year I tried a new setting powder, but ended up going back to a tried-and-true favorite setting powder by Laura Mercier. It’s lightweight, lasts so long & does a great job of setting my makeup.
  13. POWDER – If you want flawless skin, pick up the It Cosmetics powder ASAP! It gives your skin an almost flawless look while providing great coverage that stays on all day!
  14. BRONZER – I have heard such great things about this Benefit Hoola bronzer that I finally decided to give it a try last year. I love the coloring of it, as someone who is pale, some bronzers are TOO bronze for me!
  15. BLUSH – Earlier this year I ran to Sephora to grab my favorite blush by Becca and they didn’t have it, so I went back to a blush favorite by NARS! I forgot just how pigmented and gorgeous this blush is!
  16. HIGHLIGHTER – This is my holy grail highlighter by Becca. The pigmentation is SO good and it gives a gorgeous glow. I use this on my nose, my cheekbones & sometimes in the arch of my eyebrow for an additional glow. I use the color moonstone.
  17. BROW DUO – Is there a better eyebrow duo than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duo?! The colors are great and I love the brush that comes with it. It’s slanted brush gives a natural looking brow.
  18. EYEBROW PENCIL – If I’m using a brow pencil, I always reach for this inexpensive brow pencil. It’s affordable and it goes on well for a natural look.
  19. EYELASH CURLER – I don’t always curl my eyelashes, but sometimes they just don’t cooperate! If that’s the case I use this eyelash curler and it does the trick!
  20. EYELINER – I picked up this eyeliner when I forgot mine on a trip and have been using the NYX eyeliner ever since. I love the “hella fine” tip for a precise line.
  21. MASCARA PRIMER – If you’re wanting additional volume and length with your lashes, be sure to start with this mascara primer from L’Oreal!
  22. MASCARAS – I am a total mascara junkie. I can never choose a favorite! I am one of those gals that layers mascaras to get the perfect look. A few of my favorites include Marc Jacobs Beauty Volumizing mascara, Revlon So Fierce, and the It Cosmetics Superhero mascara.
  23. EYESHADOW STICK – I all but gave up on doing eyeshadow this past year. I am happily admitting that I am NOT good with eyeshadow, so thank goodness for the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick. It makes eyeshadow easy, plus it’s easy to travel with!
  24. LIP BALM – I have at least one Supergoop Lip Balm in every room of our house. It’s my favorite lip balm because it keeps my lips from being chapped, the formula is thick and lasts for a while, and it has SPF in it!
  25. LIPSTICK – I’m a big fan of nude-light shades of lipstick (no bright pink or red for me usually!) so I love the Urban Decay Vice lipsticks. They have a wide range of colors – both bright and neutral – and the lipstick itself is moisturizing and stays for quite a while. A few of my favorite shades are naked and backtalk.
  26. LIP GLOSS – Like I said above, I’m not one for bright lipsticks or glosses. I really love the Charlotte Tilbury glosses. They are beautiful and aren’t sticky at all!
  27. HAND LOTION – I picked up this lotion before a trip earlier this year and I have kept one on my nightstand and in my bag ever since!
  28. SETTING SPRAY – I always make sure I have this setting spray in my makeup bag during summer. It sets my makeup and it stays put the entire day, even with extreme heat & humidity!
  29. SELF-TANNER – I am SO pale so I like to self-tan to give myself a nice, subtle glow. I love the St. Moriz self-tanner because it doesn’t look unnatural, doesn’t turn my hands a color, and it doesn’t have an orange tint to it like most self-tanners do.
  30. HAIR BRUSH – I started using a Wet Brush last year and it’s really helped with the breakage of my hair. It feels so much more healthy now.
  31. HEAT PROTECTANT – My hairdresser yelled at me earlier this year because I wasn’t using a heat protectant. I started using this heat protectant & I can see a noticeable difference in breakage & split ends.
  32. CURLING WAND – I love the T3 Micro Curling Wand Trio for many reasons, but mostly because my curls can last DAYS when I use this wand. Sure, it’s an investment but my hair always looks best when I use this wand.
  33. TEXTURE SPRAY – I can’t say enough great things about the Kristen Ess Dry Texture Spray. Y’all, just trust me… this stuff is great. It adds the perfect amount of texture. I sometimes use to “dirty” my hair and other times I use as a finishing spray on my hair.
  34. DRY SHAMPOO – If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. That’s how I feel about the Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have no plans of trying other dry shampoo because I love this brand so much.
  35. HAIR SPRAY – I am a huge fan of Kenra products, especially the Kenra hair spray. They have a range of sprays, depending on how tight of a hold you want on your hair. The smell is great and doesn’t smell like hair spray, like most other brands do.
  36. HAIR TIES – In another effort to help with breakage and damage, I have been trying to use the Teleties. They don’t leave creases and are so much better for your hair.
  37. HAIR DRYER – I started using the T3 Cura Hair Dryer in 2018 and it’s been great! I like the different heat settings, the volume booster (I can always use extra volume in my hair), and the auto-pause sensor.
  38. TEXTURE TAFFY – My friend Kate introduced me to this a few years ago and it’s a great product to use when curling your hair. The Kenra texture taffy helps keep your curls separated and not clumped together. It also gives it a nice undone look.
  39. SCALP SUNSCREEN – I was thrilled when one of my favorite brands came out with a sunscreen for your scalp! Since I have blonde hair my scalp always gets burned! But not anymore! This product has been a game changer & it’s always in my beach bag now.
  40. SUNSCREEN – I have been using Supergoop sunscreen for a few years now & I am still loving it. The mousse sunscreen is my favorite – it goes on evenly, doesn’t feel like sunscreen & I never burn when using it.
  41. FACE MASKS – The Charcoal face mask from Origins is a game changer. It leaves my face feeling fresh, smooth, and my pores feel so much smaller. I try to use this mask once a week. I also really like the Rose face mask for retexturizing.

So many good picks! I’m not a fan of Supergoop’s mineral sunscreen. I didn’t feel like it gave good neough protection, but love the night oil and First Aid Beautys moisturizer!
