It’s time for another monthly recap. Take a peek at previous recaps here!
Can you believe that we only have a few months left of 2020? On one hand I’m thankful because, whew, this year has been a whirlwind. But on the other hand I want to savor these next few months because they’re my favorite. Between our anniversary in October to Christmas in December, I always love the last few months of the year because there are always so many wonderful memories made. I’m especially looking forward to everything this year now that we have a baby and will be celebrating a lot of “firsts” with him! Anyway, I got ahead of myself, let’s chat about September!
This month we saw a dip in the temperatures and traded humid days for all around nicer weather. We took the opportunity to spend more time outside enjoying the weather. We have done a lot of family walks lately and spent a lot of time on our screened in porch! We certainly have a change in pace now that we have a newborn! We’re still being very cautious going out due to having a newborn in a pandemic. Sometimes it’s a little frustrating because I would love nothing more than a sense of normalcy and to take him out, but the rewards just don’t outweigh the risks for our family. I know everyone has a different take on what they’re comfortable with, so we’re just taking it a step at a time in what feels right at that moment.
We celebrated two months with Noah this month! He got his first set of shots this month, he smiled for the first time and he had his first play date with my friend Caroline’s son, Henry! Noah kept us on our toes this month as he slept through the night for the first time and learned how to roll onto his tummy in his swaddle within a few days of each other! I was thrilled that he started sleeping through the night, but I also woke up numerous times to check the monitor and make sure he was ok! We are loosely following the Moms on Call schedule and it’s been a great tool to provide some structure into our days with him. A few items we’re loving these days are the Fisher Price play mat (the songs are forever stuck in my head!), the baby Bjorn bouncer, and our uppababy VISTA travel stroller! Next week I will be sharing a full detailed blog post of all of our favorite newborn items!
books I read this month
This was a great reading month for me. Some months are a bit of a “grab bag” of booksI shared all the books I read in my September reading list, but if you’re looking for a few good reads I highly recommend The Boys’ Club and Majesty!
what I purchased
this tie-dye sweatshirt | a cozy lounge essential!
face masks | since wearing a face mask is *still* a thing, I grabbed a set with darker colors for fall. Who knew these would still be necessary seven months later.
these jeans | I currently only have 2 pair of jeans that fit me, so I ordered these in my current size! I have them in my pre-baby size and wore them all.the.time.
gold link necklace | I plan on adding a few charms to this for a layered look!
a striped tee | a striped tee is a classic and I love the dark green color of this one.

current favorites on repeat
- BEAUTY: my supergoop lip balm! This has been a go-to of mine for years, but now that the temps are changing, I reach for it even more to keep my lips hydrated.
- CLOTHING: these boyfriend jeans. They’re currently one of the only pair of jeans that fit so I have been wearing them nonstop!
- TV SHOWS: we really enjoyed Chef’s Table on Netflix, so when we saw they had a new season featuring Chef’s Table BBQ we immediately added it to our list! The cinematography of this show is so great. Just a warning, you’ll end up hungry though!
- AUDIOBIOOK: I’m doing a mix of reading and listening to Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.
- CURRENTLY READING: I’m currently reading and loving And Now She’s Gone by Rachel Hall, who is a Black author! I have been trying to diversify my reads a bit more and I’m so glad I discovered this one.
